Width decides how much film you use

A 300 mm roll is right for plates, bowls and half-size trays. A 450 mm roll covers a gastronorm 1/1 in one pass. The kitchen that runs 300 mm over full trays uses roughly 1.7 times the film to do the same job, and the roll that looked cheaper on the invoice is not.

The usual answer in a kitchen with mixed tray sizes is both widths on the shelf, not a compromise width that suits neither.

The box matters more than people expect

A cutter box that softens and folds mid-service is the single most common complaint about catering film, and it has nothing to do with the film. The boxes here are a heavier board with a serrated metal blade set into the lid, not a plastic strip glued to a light carton.

If your current film comes in a box that has to be held with two hands, that is what to change first.

What PVC does that PE does not

PVC stretches further before it tears and clings to itself and to cold steel with a single pass. In a kitchen wrapping fifty trays a shift, that difference is measured in time rather than in film.

Where PVC is excluded by a customer policy or by an oven or microwave application, the PVC-free PE film is the direct substitute — with the cling difference stated up front rather than discovered.
