Where PVC-free is the specification, not the preference

Three things drive a kitchen to PVC-free film, and only one of them is policy:

  1. The customer’s own standard excludes PVC. Several retail and hospital supply chains now write this into their supplier terms. It is a document requirement, and it is met with a declaration rather than an assurance.
  2. The film goes into a microwave or an oven-safe application. PE tolerates the temperature; PVC is not the right material there.
  3. The waste stream is monitored. PE film goes with the rest of the kitchen’s polyethylene; PVC does not, and a mixed stream is what a sorting line rejects.

What you give up, said plainly

PE clings less. It holds a bowl and a tray perfectly well, and it does not seal to a cold steel rim with one pass the way PVC does. A kitchen switching without being told this will report that the film “does not work”, when what changed is the number of passes.

We say it before the order rather than after, and we send both films as samples so the change is tested on your own trays rather than argued about.
