The arithmetic that makes a dispenser worth it

A dispenser costs once and the refills cost less per metre than boxed film, because you are not buying a cutter box with every roll. The crossover is quick in a kitchen using more than about two rolls a week per station.

The other half of the case is not on the invoice: a fixed blade cuts straight every time, and film that tears square does not get discarded as a bunched-up handful. Kitchens report the waste difference before they notice the price difference.

Where a dispenser is the wrong answer

A station that uses one roll a month does not need one. Neither does a kitchen where the film moves between benches during service — a wall dispenser is fixed, and a box goes where the work is.

We will say so. A dispenser sold into a kitchen that does not need it ends up in a cupboard, and the next enquiry goes to somebody else.
