Where this grade belongs

Heavy duty is the working grade for commercial waste: hotel and restaurant back-of-house, retail store rooms, office cleaning contracts, event venues and facility management rounds. It carries wet food waste, packaging offcuts, wrapped glass and general mixed waste up to about 25 kg.

It is not the right product for construction debris. A large heavy sack tears under its own load before it is full — that job needs a rubble sack at 100–125 µm in a much smaller footprint.

Why star sealed

A star seal folds the base into four gussets so the load spreads across the whole base rather than concentrating on one flat weld. In practice it is the difference between a sack that survives being dragged down a service corridor and one that splits at the seam.

Gusseted and flat-sealed alternatives exist and we can produce them, but we do not hold them as stock in this grade, because in this application they fail more often.

Specifying the gauge

Below 50 µm, water weight plus a bone or a broken glass gets through. Above 70 µm you are paying for polymer the waste stream does not need. If your cleaners currently double-bag, the cause is usually the wrong size rather than a gauge that is too low — an overfilled sack is stressed at the rim, not in the middle.

Documentation

Each specification in the table above is a separate packaging type under PPWR and ships with its own Declaration of Conformity, material composition statement and packaging weight breakdown for your EPR return.
