Match the film to the machine, not to the last order

A wrapper set for 200% pre-stretch running a film rated to 150% tears constantly; the same machine running a film rated to 300% under-stretches and wastes material at every pallet.

Tell us the make and model of the wrapper and the stretch setting, and we will quote the grade that suits it. If you do not know the setting, the number of wraps and the film consumption per pallet is enough for us to work backwards.

Count containment force, not wraps

The measure of a wrapped pallet is containment force at the top corner, not how many times the film went round. A film that reaches the required force in four wraps is cheaper and faster than one that needs six, even at a higher price per kilo.

Push-test the top corner of a wrapped pallet: if it moves more than about 25 mm under firm hand pressure, the load is under-wrapped whatever the wrap count says.

Two-sided cling

Specify one-sided cling where wrapped pallets stand next to each other in a trailer — two-sided cling makes adjacent pallets stick together and tear on separation. Specify two-sided where loads are stacked.
