Coloured, UV and vented film

Black is not a UV grade

This is the most common misunderstanding in this product group. Black film conceals a load; it does not, by itself, resist ultraviolet degradation. Standard black film left in direct sun embrittles on roughly the same timescale as clear.

If a pallet is stored outdoors, specify the UV-stabilised grade and state how long — six months and twelve months are different formulations and different prices. Asking for “UV film” without a duration gets you the cheaper one.

Opaque white for heat

White reflects rather than absorbs, so a load under opaque white runs measurably cooler in a yard than the same load under black. For anything temperature-sensitive stored outside, white beats black regardless of concealment needs.

Vented film

Perforated film lets warm or respiring goods breathe: produce, freshly baked or cooked goods, anything palletised before it has fully cooled. Wrapping those in solid film traps moisture and the load arrives wet.

The perforation pattern reduces containment force, so vented loads generally need one more wrap than the same load in solid film.

Minimums

One tonne per colour, because a colour change means purging the line. For a distributor running several colours this is workable; for a single site it usually is not, and clear film with a printed pallet label achieves the same identification for less.
