When one-way is the right choice

Anywhere the pallet does not come back: export shipments, deliveries to sites without a pallet exchange, direct-to-customer loads. Paying pool-pallet money for a pallet you will never see again is a straightforward waste.

What you give up is racking. These are not rated for beam storage, and they are built to survive one journey well rather than fifty adequately.

Check the destination first

ISPM 15 heat treatment is required for wooden packaging entering most non-EU countries. Ordering untreated pallets to save a few euro and having a container held at the border costs many multiples of the saving.

Sizing

1200 × 800 mm and 1200 × 1000 mm cover most trade. Where a load does not fit either, a custom size built to the footprint is usually cheaper than a standard pallet plus the damage from overhang.
