Clear is not weaker

A common assumption is that clear film is weaker than black at the same gauge. It is not: the difference is the cost of pigment, not strength. Where clear sacks fail more often it is because they were specified thinner, not because they are clear.

Where clarity earns its keep

Anywhere a stream is checked without being opened: a waste contractor’s gate check, a site segregation audit, a retail back-of-house recycling stream, an airport or a stadium where the contents have to be visible for security.

The practical effect is that a rejected load becomes a conversation about one sack rather than about the whole collection.

Recycled content and clarity

This is the one product where a high PCR target works against the purpose. Above roughly 50% post-consumer content, the film picks up a grey cast that no pigment fully hides, and the contents stop being identifiable. If your tender sets a high recycled-content target across all streams, this is the line to make an exception for — and we will say so in writing so the answer is on file.
