Static load
A term used loosely for a pallet on a flat floor. EPAL does not publish one; it publishes a 5,500 kg limit on the bottommost pallet in a stack.
Also called: floor load
The figures circulating for this — 3,000 kg, 4,000 kg, sometimes more — are not EPAL’s. What EPAL publishes is narrower: when laden pallets are stacked on a solid, even surface, the bottommost pallet must not exceed 5,500 kg. That is a condition on stacking, and it does not transfer to racking, to forklift handling, or to what a single pallet may carry. See safe working load, which is the figure to plan against.
